PA Vehicle InspectionsVEHICLEINSPECTIONS

What happens if my car fails PA inspection?

You get a failed inspection sticker and have 30 days to make repairs and get re-inspected at the same station.

When Your Vehicle Fails PA Inspection

If your vehicle fails inspection:

  1. You receive a failed sticker — a red rejection sticker is placed on your windshield
  2. You have 30 days to get repairs done and return for re-inspection
  3. Return to the same station — re-inspection must be at the same station (unless waived)
  4. Re-inspection is free for the items that failed (if returned within 30 days to the same station)

What If You Disagree?

If you believe the inspection was unfair, you can file a complaint with PennDOT's Vehicle Inspection Division.
